About us

At the MAPA School of Dancing, I work hard to make sure your child loves to come to class. I run a school where children run into the hall beaming excitedly knowing that Miss Micaela is going to teach them a fun, lively dance class.  I want parents to be reassured  that their child's place in the school won't increase to two (or three!) days a week increasing their monthly costs, and that costumes won't break the bank. I want children to learn techniques, skills and grow in confidence. I want parents to take comfort in the fact that I am looking after their children as if they are my own. Learning each ones likes and dislikes, finding out about their family and pets, discovering their weaknesses and making them stronger, more independent individuals allowing them to face new challenges both at dancing and in life.

I don't envisage my students to be the next Prima Ballerinas, but when they are old telling stories of their youth the loving memorable times that they shared at the MAPA School of Dancing will be at the forefront of their minds.

where it all began

Born and raised in Manchester, I started dancing as soon as I could walk. I sat and watched my big sister and just fell in love. Training at the renowned Karela School of Dancing.

My passion for the stage led me to study Performing Arts at college, before achieving a 2:1 degree in Performing Arts, Business Management, and IT at Manchester University.

I completed my dance teaching qualification with the Karela School of Dancing, where I was inspired by the unique teaching style of Principal Pamela Fellows. With that knowledge and passion, I moved to London and in 2003 founded the MAPA School of Dancing.

Since then, I’ve been dedicated to creating a welcoming space where ALL children and adults alike can discover the joy of dance.

I look forward to dancing with you soon!

Our Values are G.o.l.d

A Golden Heart Behind Every Step

At MAPA, our values shape every class we teach, every dancer we cheer on, and every memory we help create. We’re more than just a dance studio — we’re a place where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to grow. Our values at the school are my own personal values so instilling them comes as second nature.

🪴growth

We believe dance should be fun! Our classes are filled with content that allows pupils to grow and develop into not only wonderful dancers but also wonderful humans.

Opportunities

Whether it’s trying a new step or performing on stage, we provide opportunities and give support so students can be brave, believe in themselves, and achieve things they didn't think they could.

💕love

We foster a culture of respect, encouragement, and friendship — where every child feels like they belong. Older students are role models, and younger ones are cheered on. We’re all in this together.

🎭 Dance

We nurture the artist within every child. Through storytelling, music, and performance, our dancers are encouraged to express themselves and let their unique light shine.

A joyful introduction to dance for every child

"I’ve been taking my 2 girls to MAPA dancing for about 2 years now. They are currently in the pre school class and they absolutely love it! Miss Micaela and Miss Maya are brilliant with the kids and know how to juggle both my girls’ varying personalities!

These classes are super relaxed and fun and a perfect introduction to dance."
